A financial power of attorney allows a designated person of your choosing to manage your finances, if necessary. With a financial power of attorney, your designated agent is able to assist you in paying bills, collecting benefits, managing your investments and properties, and filing taxes. Your agent can carry out these responsibilities at any time, including during any instance of incapacity.
Advanced Healthcare Directives
An advanced healthcare directive is a legal document that allows you to outline your preferences for care ahead of an event where you may be unable to make decisions for yourself.
Many hospitals and health facilities will ask you for an advanced healthcare directive before receiving care. If you do not have one, you may be asked to fill out a generic form generated by the hospital before any major surgeries or treatments without sound legal advice or guidance.
